Organization and Policies:
1.
Prerequisites: (a) General Chemistry (1 year) and (b) Organic
Chemistry w/ Laboratory (1 year or a 1 semester survey course w/ lab) and
(c) Quantitative Analysis (may NOT be taken concurrently w/ Biochemistry 450).
We will be Using the myCSUDH-ImmediateAccess- program.

You will receive Free Access on the first day of classes.
Discounted pricing has been negotiated with publishers.
Students will have until Monday, February 22nd, 2021 to opt out.
After the opt-out deadline, any students who has not opted out will be charged on their CSUDH student account by the university, allowing more time to pay for the required material.
Please obtain an on-line or print copy of the text book ASAP so that you can begin reading and preparing for the semester.

Lecture Notes and Power Point Slides: The lecture notes are available and power point slides, will be available on lecture days, on-line, arranged via
lecture topic, at: http://www2.csudh.edu/nsturm/. Examination questions will be derived directly from lecture notes, power point slides and Sapling learning homework.
4. On-Line Sessions: We will meet on-line every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00AM until 11:40AM using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. We will discuss lecture material, do quick thinks and answer questions. It is very important that you attend all of the on-line sessions in order to succeed in this course. You must have a working computer, reliable internet connectivity and browser is an important requirement, please use Firefox 2.0.x or higher.

5.Examinations: There will be four multiple choice examinations (see syllabus for specific dates) each worth
100 points. Absolutely NO make-up exams will be given.
6. Final Exam: The final exam (100 pts), will be on-line through Bb Collaborate Ultra using the Respondus Lockdown Browser and is scheduleed for Monday, May 17th, 2021, 10:00AM-12:00PM.

The Goal of this course is to understand and outline Proteins, Enzymes,
Vitamins, Membranes and all of the Carbohydrate Metabolic Pathways.

Grading Criteria: Letter grades are based on the following point distribution.
